So much goodness this week! Including a classic piece from Nielsen about the Mac interface that channels some ideas on the future of interfaces that we're only just starting to see realised.
I speak with Cornelia Davis, CTO of Weaveworks about GitOps, Flux and simplifying the creation of Kubernetes clusters.

I've learned that video tutorials are a great way to teach my students, and open source tools have helped me take my video-production skills to the next level. This article will explain how to get started and add artfulness and creativity to your video tutorial projects.
Summary: We reverse all of the core design principles behind the Macintosh human interface guidelines to arrive at the characteristics of the Internet desktop. Originally published as: Gentner, D., and Nielsen, J.: The Anti-Mac interface, 39, 8 (August 1996), 70–82.

Well the past few weeks have all been about the somewhat poor decision of the FSF to reinstate Richard M Stallman. Seemingly everyone is against the decision, but no word from the FSF… Yet.
Richard M Stallman, founder and former president of the Free Software Foundation (FSF), announced at the organisation's LibrePlanet virtual event that he has rejoined the board and does not intend to resign again.
Richard M. Stallman (RMS) has always been a polarizing figure. There are people who love him and those that hate him. For example, RMS often clashed with Linus Torvalds. RMS has claimed that the Linux operating system should be called GNU/Linux. He also clashed with Eric S.
When the Free Software Foundation (FSF) allowed disgraced founder Richard M. Stallman (RMS) to rejoin its board, the FSF board members clearly had no idea how others would see the move. They do now. Numerous free software and open-source members and leaders have decried RMS's return.
The past couple of weeks I have been looking at different methods for organising my copious notes, ideas, and todos. I am a little undecided on what works for me yet, but the different principles make interesting reading.
Imagine for a moment the perfect organizational system. One that supported and enhanced the work you do, telling you exactly where to put a piece of information, and exactly where to find it when you needed it.

I used to play in a band, and whilst this article is more about "pop" bands, I found it an interesting look at why "the kids" just aren't interested anymore.
“The moment that we started a band was the best thing that ever happened,” sings Matty Healy on the 1975’s recent single Guys. The song is an ardent love letter to the band, and to the romance of bands in general: the camaraderie, the solidarity, the joyous fusion of creativity and friendship.
